Wanted: Stewards of Our UU Faith

When our church's youth become parents, will they rear THEIR children as UUs, or will they leave our churches like NINETY PERCENT of our young adults do. This trend will continue unless we take action. Join us at the annual meeting of the Universalist Convention of NC Inc. (UCONCI) as a delegate or as a guest for workshops and discussions to address this issue. The meeting and program will take place on October 16th, 2010 at the beautiful Shelter Neck UU Camp near Burgaw, NC. Food and lodging are included and there are no registration fees. If you are passionate about UU retention and growth, you'll not want to miss this event.

The Program Theme is:
Stewardship of Our Faith: Retaining Our Youth and Nurturing New Growth

       *Keynote speaker will be Marion Hirsch, Lifespan RE Director of the Community Church of Chapel Hill.
        *Other presenters include Nato Hollister, Agatha Buell, and Natalie Zucchino
       *Workshops explore retaining our youth, the role of camps and conferences, and the importance of attracting and retaining young adults in our churches. Handouts will be available, including the 'Mind the Gap'  UUA Survey addressing youth retention. There will be time for discussion and collaboration on ideas to bring back to our congregations.
       *Members who are not delegates are encouraged to attend the meeting and weekend events as well.
       *There will be music, food, bonfire, and good fellowship for those who attend. We will worship in the historic Chapel on Sunday morning.
        *PRE Registration is requested prior to Oct. 12.
        *Check in begins at 8:30 am Saturday, Oct. 16 (or come Friday evening and we'll eat out-"dutch").
       * Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. Sunday breakfast and Saturday overnight accommodations are available on request (or if you prefer bring a tent or RV). This event is completely subsidized by UCONCI and completely free to attendees.
